Redi-Rock Retaining Wall Installation in Toledo and Northwest Ohio

Design and installation of Redi-Rock segmental retaining walls for slope stabilization, grade change, and drainage — residential and commercial properties across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

Aqualawn installs Redi-Rock retaining walls for residential homes and commercial properties across the Toledo metro and surrounding region. Family-owned and based in Monclova since 2002, Aqualawn handles the wall alongside the grading, drainage, hardscape, and landscape work it usually requires — so the wall, the bed work behind it, the patio or walkway it supports, and the surrounding plantings are all planned and built on a single schedule.

Redi-Rock — the system Aqualawn installs

Redi-Rock is a large-block precast segmental retaining wall system. The blocks interlock through a knob-and-groove mechanism, and at most residential heights the walls behave as gravity walls — they hold back the slope through the weight and interlock of the blocks themselves, without the buried footings or poured-concrete forms that traditional walls require. For taller walls or commercial loading, the system is engineered with geogrid reinforcement back into the soil mass.

Aqualawn installs Redi-Rock retaining walls (both spellings — Redi-Rock and Redi Rock — refer to the same manufacturer's system) across a range of textures and block shapes, including the Limestone and Cobblestone faces most often specified for residential and light commercial work in this region.

Residential applications

The most common residential uses across the Toledo metro: holding back sloped backyards, terracing a grade-change between the house and the rear lot, walling out a walkout basement, and creating raised planting beds or seating walls around a patio. On residential projects the wall is almost always part of a larger landscape conversation — what plantings sit at the base, how the wall meets the patio or walkway, where the irrigation zone for the new bed terminates.

Commercial applications

For commercial properties: grade-change walls along parking lots and driveways, drainage walls where the property sits below adjacent grade, and landscape walls integrated with commercial planting beds. The same crew that installs residential Redi-Rock walls scales to commercial work, with engineered design where the wall height or surcharge loading calls for it.

Why Aqualawn for Retaining Walls

The wall is planned with the drainage and grading, not bolted on after

A retaining wall is a drainage and grading project as much as it's a wall. Aqualawn plans the wall together with the grading behind it, the drainage that has to run from above the wall to somewhere safe below, and the bed lines that finish the project — so the wall doesn't end up holding back water it wasn't designed to handle.

Built by the same team that handles hardscape, plantings, lighting, and irrigation

Aqualawn covers retaining walls, hardscapes, landscaping, outdoor lighting, irrigation systems, lawn care, and snow removal under one roof. When a wall project includes a new patio above or below it, accent lighting along the face, an irrigation zone for the planting at the base, and finished bed work, those pieces are built by the same company on a single schedule.

Two decades operating in Northwest Ohio

Family-owned, Monclova-based, serving the same metro since 2002. Wall siting, drainage planning, and base preparation are calibrated to Northwest Ohio conditions — heavy clay soils that don't drain on their own, freeze-thaw cycles that punish poorly drained walls, and the seasonal water patterns that determine whether a wall stands plumb in year fifteen or starts leaning by year five.

Service Area

Aqualawn installs Redi-Rock retaining walls for residential and commercial properties throughout:

  • Northwest Ohio: Lucas, Wood, Fulton, Henry, and Ottawa counties — including Toledo, Perrysburg, Sylvania, Maumee, Monclova, Holland, Whitehouse, and the surrounding Toledo metro.
  • Southeast Michigan: Monroe and Lenawee counties.

If your property sits in one of these areas, retaining wall service is available alongside Aqualawn's other outdoor property services.

Retaining Walls FAQ

What is a Redi-Rock retaining wall?

Redi-Rock is a large-block precast segmental retaining wall system. The blocks interlock through a knob-and-groove mechanism, and at typical residential heights the wall behaves as a gravity wall — held in place by the weight and interlock of the blocks, without a buried footing. For taller walls or commercial loading, the system is engineered with geogrid reinforcement back into the soil.

Are Redi-Rock walls used residentially, or only on commercial projects?

Both. The same system installs on residential properties (sloped backyards, walkout basements, terraced gardens, raised planting beds, seating walls around patios) and on commercial properties (parking-lot grade walls, drainage walls, landscape walls). Aqualawn installs both.

Do retaining walls need a footing or engineering?

Short walls in residential applications often install as gravity walls — the block weight and interlock do the work, no buried footing required. Taller walls, walls with significant surcharge load above them, or commercial walls are designed with geogrid reinforcement and may require engineered drawings. Aqualawn plans the wall, the grading behind it, and the drainage at the same time, since a retaining wall is a drainage and grading project as much as it's a wall.

Where does Aqualawn install retaining walls?

Northwest Ohio (Lucas, Wood, Fulton, Henry, and Ottawa counties) and Southeast Michigan (Monroe and Lenawee counties) — including Toledo, Perrysburg, Sylvania, Maumee, Monclova, Holland, Whitehouse, and the surrounding Toledo metro.

How long has Aqualawn been installing retaining walls?

Family-owned and operating in Northwest Ohio since 2002. Earlier Redi-Rock installations across the Toledo metro are visible in the project gallery on this page, with crews working the same region for more than two decades.

  • Landscaping — bed design, grading, plant installation, and mulching that finishes the wall into the surrounding property
  • Outdoor Lighting — pathway, accent, and architectural lighting for finished wall projects
  • Irrigation Systems — irrigation zones for any new plantings at the base or top of the wall
  • Lawn Care — ongoing mowing, trimming, and seasonal cleanups for the broader property
